Brought transparency to the Village Government Public session at board meetings now at top of agenda Anyone can speak in meetings Open access to Village records I meet with residents in person, talk to them by phone, and or by e-mail Continue to strengthen our state-of-the-art Police department Established The Connect-CTY service - allows me or the Police Chief to create and rapidly send out time-sensitive messages to every telephone number stored in our notification database Infrastructure Roads – enhanced our program with GPS and now it is recognized state wide Continue to reduce excess expenses for Snow removal (fixed price contract) Improved village Communications – Internet (Comcast), police radio, WEB site Broad boarding out of the shadows as a legitimate home occupation Improved land values 12-15% /year (Crain’s reference) Massive change in regional participation and partnership BH is recognized statewide as an asset to many other communities IML asked me to go to Springfield to address the conference of Mayors on how to run communities Created the political horsepower that BH can stand against county / state / and federal forces that go against our comprehensive plan Developed variety of legislative efforts to change state and federal statute to address our concerns, including personally authoring multiple pieces of legislation. Protected the zoning of the Village without compromise Led the fight in McHenry County on the Duda / ZBA hearings Brought in hundreds of residents to participate for 18 weeks. Massive overhaul of the Comprehensive Plan Protection of ground water and environment Address pipeline leaks and other environmental threats Established the following new committees: Development Commission · Village Development and branding. I initiated and major rewrite of the Comprehensive Plan. This was the first update in more than a decade. We have since been making more frequent updates. The Plan now strengthens our zoning protection and the protection of our open spaces and trail system. Legal Committee - Legal issues Environmental concerns Communications Committee -improved communications between the Village government to the residents of Barrington Hills, transparency, technology Equestrian Commission - integrated its function in the planning and zoning in the Village to ensure the protection of horse ownership and trails as the Village moves forward in time. Village is one of the most financially sound operations in the state. Stewardship for next generation
